The more we count on fossil fuels, the more we will see our environment polluted by its effects. It’s important that things begin changing right away and one of the best ways to begin is with vehicles. In an attempt to deal with the problem with fuel emissions, care manufacturers are beginning to build more cars that are good for the environment.

There are many different types of these environmentally friendly cars, the friendliest being a car that runs on battery. Since it runs on battery means has no need for diesel or petrol. Sounds great since it doesn’t need fuel, so you can save money and it’s environmentally friendly which is terrific, but there is a drawback. The automobile engines themselves are a little limited right now but the cars are now available to the public. This means that you must recharge the battery after approximately 100 miles, so it doesn’t run very far on one run.

Another alternative available is a hybrid car. An environmentally friendly hybrid runs on battery and gasoline. You could be asking yourself, ‘How is that possible?’ Well, let me tell you. As the vehicle begins to run, it consumes electricity from the battery. The need for the gas comes when more power is needed at a a certain speed. The good thing about it using gas is that it recharges the battery automatically, meaning you don’t have to charge the battery yourself through an external source of power.

There is also another type of cars, referred to as plug-in hybrid cars. They operate much in the same way as the earlier hybrid and won’t harm the environment. However, the typical hybrid car does not need to be recharged separately whereas this is not the case with the plug-in hybrid. Compared to typical cars, you will see that hybrid cars are good for fuel efficiency.

The Prius is a hybrid model developed by Toyota and has been tested to run 50 miles to every gallon. It is priced at more or less $22,000 and is nowadays one of the market leaders. Honda’s Insight hybrid car was the first of its kind to be made available and before Toyota made an entry in the hybrid market. It was not received in the same fashion as Toyota’s Prius but it opened the consumer market for hybrids. The Ford Fusion Hybrid, which costs roughly $27,000, has several awards to its name. It has been regarded as the best American hybrid car produced. Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV is said to possess an emission level of nil. In terms of Japanese automobile manufacturers, the i-MiEV was among the earliest electric vehicles produced.

There are also many other hybrid and environmentally friendly cars available to consumers, and as we continue to develop better technologies, more and more efficient cars are made and are available to purchase.
